We Survived

One of the benefits of being a stay at home mom is keeping my precious child out of the germ filled daycare centers. However, this week Parker got his first sickness. He started running fever Saturday evening with a low grade fever but by the middle of the night he had 102 degree fever. Even with tylenol he kept a high fever, so I called the doctor's office Sunday morning. They said to bring him in at 2. I love that Sumter Pediatrics will see patients on the weekends if necessary. Although his ear was a little red with a little fluid, the doctor did a blood test to see if what he had was viral or bacterial. It came back with high white blood cell count which would lead to it being bacterial but also some of the other numbers looked as if it could be viral. They gave him a shot of antibiotics to see how he would respond and wanted to see him back on Monday. Since his fever was down on Monday, we are now giving him amoxicillin (which I'm kinda jealous of him because the bubble gum flavored medicine tastes good). After a few days of him acting puny, he is back to his normal self, and he has finally started to enjoy taking his medicine. It was a wrestling match a couple of days to get the medicine in him. We survived his first sickness, and now we are trying to get back on our normal routine.
